COCONUT
- Beagle: 15 years old
- White Shaker Syndrome
- Adopted: August 2007
- DOB: 6/19/2007
Coconut is the only original dog with Todd & Anna for over 15 years!
She suffers from anxiety and White Shaker’s syndrome. She’s a loner and can typically be found outside in the yard by herself. She is on special medication and food to make her comfortable and she even terrorizes the other dogs a lot less now!
BENNY “THE SHAMAN”
- Shih Tzu Mix: 13 years old
- Missing One Eye
- Adopted: July 2010
- DOB: 7/24/2009
Benny was our first rescue back in 2010.
He was in a kill shelter and very sick and we literally fed him with a syringe to save him. He’s hanging in there and we can tell the change and addition of all the dogs over the years have been tough on him. And with Clyde and Colby they were the 3 musketeers and he’s missing them a lot. He still won’t go out in the rain and is high maintenance with his food which has earned him the nickname Benny the Prince.
Dino
- Shitzu-Poodle Mix: 16 years old
- Owner Surrender to the Shelter
- Adopted: November 20, 2021
- DOB: 5/12/2006
Dino was an Owner Surrender to the Shelter as his family was relocating. He is completely blind. He also is in the beginning stages of kidney disease and has a heart murmur. Dino is a quiet, affectionate boy and so far has even shared a bed with Coconut which is the unheard of!!!
Lily was picked up as a stray in North Carolina recently and one of our supporting partner rescues brought her from the shelter all the way to Connecticut! The new surrounding made her nervous at first but she has settled in and has took to the other dogs easily. She loves to give kisses and manages to get around fine with just one eye and being mostly deaf.
Betty White came to us from Texas with Bea Arthur. They arrived at midnight on a transport and it was love at first sight. This old lady ended up in the shelter after her owner was evicted and unable to keep all the dogs she had.
